I have been sewing and crafting for most of my adult life, I plan my weekends around making something in my sewing room. When I am not sewing or crocheting, I am listening to podcasts, watching YouTube sewists or on Pinterest, could be a little obsessed….. definitely is my happy place.
How I came to be here started a year ago after for the hundredth time I was asked could I sew something for a person that was admiring the dress I was wearing. I don’t like making clothes for anyone other than my family, so I said “No but I can teach you how to make your own”, the idea was born!
Having taught my nieces to sew and crochet, my boys can crochet, knit and sew, one of them has his own machine and made a shirt as his first project. I have also taught some of my work mates to crochet as well so I do have plenty of life experience.
Recently I made a large square cushion and stuffed it with material scraps I had been collecting from projects for about 3 years, great use of waste material and even nicer to put my feet up on. I was inspired from a podcast and found made-by-rae.com she blogged how to use up scrap material waste. I tried to buy readymade piping from Spotlight, only had piping cord so I made my own, woohoo! a new skill and it worked well.

I have a crochet granny square cardigan on the hook, it’s been a work in progress for a few months, would love to finish it before winter ends, I think it’s wishful thinking.
I have wanted to make a denim skirt that’s everywhere at the moment, I picked up two pair of jeans from my local op shop for $6 each Did some seam ripping and ready to sew them into one long denim skirt. Can’t believe that I did make this jeans hack about 20 years ago and it’s back, shame I didn’t keep that one.

I have a sewing class scheduled for the next few weeks, as well as a crochet class to learn granny squares coming up as well. I used all the squares I have made while teaching classes to make a market bag, great scrap buster for all those little bits of wool that get leftover. I haven”t bothered to line it, my crochet tension is always quite tight and I don think much will fall through it.

Anyway, happy crafting until next time 🧶🪡🧵
